Top 10 Superfoods: less picky more cooking…the transition

It’s been such a whirlwind recently, I’ve been trying so many new foods I haven’t even been able to keep up with myself!  I’ve managed to post a lot of the new foods I’ve tried  on my @pickyeateradventures instagram but there have just been so many I haven’t even posted about!  What I’ve noticed the most is I’m slowly transitioning from trying each new food for the first time into the world of cooking and figuring out how to combine and cook these new foods for myself.

I’ve begun thinking about how incredible it is than I can try everything and asking myself, “Now that I actually have the option to eat anything, what do I choose to include in my diet?”  I have the opportunity to completely reconfigure what my new food habits are going to be.  I have this new power of choice to decide what is going to make it into my diet that I never had before!

As many of you probably know it takes some effort to try and create new food habits and change your diet.  In a lot of ways it was simpler when I was a picky eater because there weren’t as many options.  I knew what I was going to have for breakfast, lunch, or dinner because it was the same thing I’d had the day before and I didn’t have to think about it too much.  I knew what worked and that was what I went with.

Now I have the ENTIRE culinary world to choose from!  That’s a huge shift!  So I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to approach this and what I’ve decided is if I am going to re-build my diet I would like to do it with healthy nutritious foods that will strengthen my body and mind in the best way possible!  I want to give my body the best I can now that I can choose from any food I want and I’d like that to be just as easy and automatic as my previous diet was!

So I’ve been researching really healthy superfoods and then I plan to build my diet around them so they are encorporated into my meals as much as possible.  I’ve researched and read a lot of articles and there are A LOT of opinions out there but these are some of the most prevalent ones that I saw showing up over and over and over again.  So that seems like a pretty good place to start to me!
