Have you ever looked at your picky eater and wondered "will they ever grow out of this?"

For more than 29 years I was that picky eater and those were my parents and we went to psychologists, pediatricians and doctors and were told over and over again, "Oh, she'll just grow out of it."

Except I didn't.

I went from being an extremely picky child to a picky eating teenager to a picky eating adult out in the real world with a severely limited diet who could only eat french fries out at restaurants.  I remember sitting at the table with my parent's with a wonderful homemade meal in front of us and my Mom would put  a little bit on my plate and say, "Just take 1 little bite Jessie."  I wanted to but I just couldn't and when I was younger I remember this materializing as crying and screaming fits.  I would get so frustrated and my parents would get frustrated and everyone was so upset!

I was so frustrated that there wasn't more guidance provided to my Mom and Dad when I was growing up.  The information we were given was usually misinformed or not very helpful.  My picky eating wasn't identified for what it was. It was NOT just the conventional stage of fussy eating that a toddler go through and so my picky eating grew worse as I grew older instead of better.

As I got older the frustration turned into severe anxiety and stress around social events where food was involved, which there are a lot of!   It could range from a pizza party where I couldn't have the pizza with everyone, to going out on dates, to a set menu for a friend's wedding.   It could be going out to lunch with co-workers and not being able to order out the same food or just getting a side and have someone ask, "Aren't you going to have something more that that?"

But I couldn't, my diet mostly consisted of PB & Js, grilled cheese sandwiches, and french fries.  If you were to ask me, "Well don't you eat ...fill in the blank...?" most likely my answer was "No."  I didn't eat any meat (no bacon, no burgers, no chicken no fish, no shrimp), no vegetables, no salads, no eggs, no pasta, no rice and the list just goes on and on.  I had this severely limited diet and I didn't just grow out of it.

That is… until I FINALLY discovered how to overcome my picky eating and am thrilled to say I am no longer a picky eater and can now eat anything and everything!

That’s why I wrote this book.  So I can give you the knowledge and resources to help you and your picky eater... before middle school... before high school... before college... even if you’ve tried everything you could think of to get your son or daughter to try new foods.
